Meet Jovon

Jovon Tyler

Jovon Tyler is a dedicated community leader, advocate, and entrepreneur – and a candidate for an at-large position on Houston City Council in the November 2027 election.

Born and raised in Houston’s Fifth Ward, his story nearly ended too soon. As a teenager, Jovon was homeless. As a young adult, he struggled with addiction…until a stranger welcomed him into a loving family. Jovon is the adopted son of former Mayor Annise Parker and Kathy Hubbard. Their compassion was the breakthrough that unlocked his future.

Jovon pays his gratitude forward by leading families through loss at Service Corporation International, the largest funeral services company in America. His heart for helping others also fueled his volunteer work abroad with AmeriCorps. Jovon is the former president of the Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus and continues to advocate for homeless youth.

Jovon is guided by the principle that every Houston family deserves a safe, affordable, and thriving city. That's what inspired him to answer the call to service once more.
