Meet Jovon

Jovon Tyler is a dedicated community leader, advocate, and entrepreneur – and a candidate for an at-large position on Houston City Council in the November 2027 election.
Born and raised in Houston’s Fifth Ward, Jovon’s life story is a testament not only to his resilience and determination, but also to the need for strong communities that can lift us up when we need it most. Jovon overcame homelessness as a teenager and addiction as a young adult and to this day works hard to live an active life of compassion and service to others.
Today, Jovon helps families plan for the loss of their loved ones as a leader at Service Corporation International, the largest funeral services company in America. He has been a volunteer abroad with AmeriCorps, a former president of the Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus, and an advocate for homeless LGBTQ youth.
Jovon is the adopted son of former Mayor Annise Parker and Kathy Hubbard. He lives in Houston's Third Ward.
